These works are original oil paintings, all but a few created on gallery wrapped canvas (has finished edges). The sides are oil painted smoothly to finish, and no frame is necessary for a finished presentation. There is a hidden mechanism on the reverse of the canvas that has been uniquely designed and produced to rotate the painting in its plane. The rotation stops after ninety degrees, allowing for all four orientations to be fully viewed. The painting weight is approximately five to ten pounds, including the attached mechanism. Every painting has been personally signed in oil paint by the artist, the signature being divided onto each of the painting's four sides as to read CA-TT-AN-I.

COLLECTORS
Past buyers have found my artwork appropriate for display in their living rooms, for a contemporary atmosphere. Other buyers have chosen to display the paintings in the corporate climate, to encourage creativity in problem solving. If you wish to discuss the purchase of a single canvas or a matched set of canvasses for your home or office, please contact me through email or cell phone at (608) 225-4155. I would be glad to help you select pieces perfect for your venue.
MY PROCESS
I wear the most torn and worn jeans, a red Wisconsin t-shirt, a sweatshirt that says “Princess”. I squat, kneel, lie down, bend at my canvas. No easel, propped against the studio wall. My hand shakes slightly until my brush touches the canvas. When I attempt straight lines I hold my breath. I do not blink – forcing my eyes to remain open and focused as moisture wells up. If a line is not how I want it, I change brushes or get more paint (it is usually one of those two problems). Mostly I paint one color at a time, turning the canvas until that color is balanced on each side. Often I will paint something that will surprise me. I sometimes laugh out loud when I paint. My favorite part? The first few strokes on the blank canvas. I love large canvases and am limited today only by the size of my Jeep. I hate to clean brushes. I buy the cheap kiddie brushes and discard when ruined – I have ruined many brushes.
What comes out is a stream of consciousness.
